Nico Prinz

Born in Lugano in 1976, Nico Prinz earned his Teaching Diplomas at the Conservatory of Milan with D. Barzanò and at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU) followed by a Concert Diploma with Patrick Demenga.

Nico Prinz has participated to numerous masterclasses with A. Noras, A. Bylsma, R. Cohen and W.-S. Yang. He has also won different prizes in international competitions (Stresa and Ispra in Italy, Young Swiss Competition as well as Varazze Competition).

Nico Prinz has played as principal cellist of Sinfonietta de Lausanne for many years, he is a permanent member of the Argovia Philharmonic. Nico Prinz also performs now with other orchestras such as the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Ensemble Symphonique de Neuchatel and Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana.

Nico Prinz has founded the Geneva Cello Quartet and joined the ensemble Tri i Dve where he can express his passion for traditional music from all horizons (Balkans, Klezmer and Gypsy music).
